Small Tourney Team Empty Small Tourney Team

    Post by LoneQuincy 12/2/2014, 11:12

As I've mentioned to a few of you, my unit is having our own Pokemon tourney. It's tomorrow, and I know this is last minute but I'd like some opinions.

    Paint.Net(Smeargle)
    Small Tourney Team 235-Smeargle
    Nature: Jolly
    Ability: Technician
    Item: Focus Sash
    EVs: 252 Att, 4 SpD, 252 Spe
    -Dark Void
    -Stealth Rock
    -Sticky Web
    -Explosion

The goal here is to set up at least SR, then go BOOM! Running Dark Void since it's the highest acc sleep move the no one is immune to(outside of abilities such as insomnia). Sticky Web lets Nidoking sweep reliably and Explosion is a nice parting gift. Razz

    Quagsire
    Small Tourney Team 195
    Nature: Relaxed
    Ability: Unaware
    Item: Leftovers
    EVs: 252 Hp, 252 Def, 4 SpD
    -Toxic
    -Recover
    -Scald
    -Infestation

Typical Physical wall set. Toxic and Recover to Stall. Scald for a STAB and potential for burn. Infestation was a unique choice I made inspired by Wrap Shuckle. Idea is to trap and Toxic Stall other walls if I can.

    Eggstatic Smile (Chansey)
    Small Tourney Team 113
    Nature: Calm
    Ability: Natural Cure
    Item: Eviolite
    EVs: 252 Hp, 4 Def, 252 SpD
    -Seismic Toss
    -Toxic
    -Soft-Boiled
    -Aromatherapy

Pure SpD Chansey. Toxic for stall, S-toss for reliable damage, and Soft-Boiled for recovery. Aromatherapy is to keep the rest of the party healthy.

    Ice King(Weavile)
    Small Tourney Team 461
    Nature: Jolly
    Ability: Pressure
    Item: Chople Berry
    EVs: 4 Hp, 252 Att, 252 Spe
    -Swords Dance
    -Icicle Crash
    -Night Slash
    -Brick Break

SD Weavile destroys Lives. Went with Icicle Crash over Ice Punch or Ice Shard for added Power.

    VenomKing(Nidoking)
    Small Tourney Team Nidoking
    Nature: Timid
    Ability: Sheer Force
    Item: Life Orb
    EVs: 252 SpA, 4 SpD, 252 Spe
    -Earth Power
    -Sludge Wave
    -Ice Beam
    -Fire Blast

This guy is a THREAT. If I get off a Sticky Web, not much will outspeed him which will allow my to get in that extra hit on bulkier mons who can't OHKO him in return. EP/SW for beautiful dual STAB, Ice Beam for Dragons and Ground types. Fire Blast over T-bolt because I really HATE mons like Ferrothorn and Scizor.

    Metagross
    Small Tourney Team Metagross
    Nature: Adamant
    Ability: Clear Body
    Item: Weakness Policy
    EVs: 180 Hp, 252 Att, 76 Spe
    -Brick Break
    -Meteor Mash
    -Earthquake
    -Rock Polish

Agili-Gross. Get off a Rock Polish to outspeed most pokemon that aren't Scarfed. Goal was to give him enough bulk to survive a Super hit and activate Weakness Policy. Even without the Policy boost, Metagross hits like a freight train. Thinking about switching Brick Break for Rock Slide or Zen Headbutt.

Please share thoughts tonight if possible.

Thanks boss. Ended up swapping Metagross's Brick Break for Zen Headbutt. Flying/Fighting types become easier to deal with. Haven't heard about what anyone else is running except for half my roommate's team. We're playing No legend, No Megas as well.

Since i've said that, i've looked at this again. I would really run Spore over dark void. It's blockable yes, but it's gonna hit. Missing a dark void could be GG if you can't get your sticky web up. You're also lacking a spin blocker which should be essential if you plan to sweep with Nidoking. It would also have good synergy with Weavile and Chansey.

I would recommend a pyshically defensive Jellicent with Cursed Body in replacement of Quagsire, as it seems to be the weakest link in the chain :/

I'm gonna try Dark Void at least for the first round. The only hazard I really need is Rocks. Not too worried about a spin blocker since them using Rapid Spin opens my up to SD with Weavile or Rock Polish with Metagross.

I chose Quagsire purely because it has respectable bulk and the ability Unaware stops them from walking through me with a setup sweeper.

Great advice, but I think I'll try what I've got in place with these 2 for now.

This team sucked lol. Still, I recorded 4 of the 5 games I played. Only 3 of us showed up so we all played each other best 2 of 3. Battle 1 was against Opp 2, Battle 2 was against Opp 1, Battle 3 vs Opp 2, etc....

    Opp 1 games:

    AEJG-WWWW-WWW5-GF8Q
Forgot to record 2nd game, but I won 2-0 with a Fighting Mono-type

    Opp 2 games:

    6G5G-WWWW-WWW5-GFAG
    VHVW=WWWW-WWW5-GFAJ
    MJWW-WWWW-WWW5-GFAM
